Creating a FanTroll:
There are MANY FanTrolls everywhere. But, I will admit, when I tried to make one, I did NOT understand a SINGLE thing. The more I learned, the more I wanted to write this. So here you go!
-----TYPING QUIRKS-----
You may have noticed- FanKids AND FanTrolls both have their little quirks. But I see many people over doing them. For example, a girl was trying to explain how her Troll did "dog puns", like "pawsome," "today has been ruff," etc. But here's the problem: Nepeta uses CAT puns. I'm not saying you CAN'T copy off of the original canon characters, because you CAN, but if you wish to create a legitimate Troll, please don't do that. She also added ears. (I'll explain more about appearances later.) Despite the fact that there are some odd and inaccurate quirks- there are some pretty nice ones. I've read about a Troll that "---D PUNCHES" her sentences, because she was a boxer/wrestler. You could also associate your symbol with your quirk. There are tons of angles and lines, (7, [, ], |, \, /, I, L, ^, etc.) and there are also a nice amount of other symbols too. (*, <3, &, @, $, !, etc.) I have seen "rich" trolls that replace "s" with the "$" symbol. So, put some good thinking into what quirk you choose. Remember- try not to over do it. Don't replace 3^347 (every) little letter with something else. (ALSO: When a Troll dies, they "type like this and replace their "o's" with "0's"'.)

Also: the color of the symbol should be the color of the troll's blood. Unless you're trying to hide it, like Karkat.

A BASIC troll, has a shirt showing their symbol in some way, pants/skirt, and shoes. They are mostly dark colors, but there are a few other cases. Let me explain:
-Sub-category: Shirts.
Trolls may also have a jacket or vest- like Nepeta and Vriska. The color of the symbol, as I've mentioned before, is USUALLY the color of the troll's blood, unless you want to hide it, or lie about it. Sleeve sizes can vary- I read this somewhere. It said: In Troll society, if a troll wears long sleeves, they like to fight. (Karkat, Nepeta, Eridan.) If they wear short sleeves, they don't like to fight. (Aradia, Tavros, Sollux, Terezi, Gamzee.) If they wear both or no sleeves, they are not to be trusted. (Kanaya, Equius, Feferi, Vriska.) Therefore, if your Troll LOVES to fight, and wants to destroy the world, consider using long sleeves or no sleeves. Note: The Post-Scratch trolls all have a black shirt showing their symbol in their blood color, but with the Pre-Scratch trolls, that is not the case. Just remember that if you're gonna make a Pre-Scratch AND Post-Scratch.

Trolls usually wear dark colors, other than gems and necklaces and things like that. So if you're going to have shorts, skirts, or pants: PLEASEEEEEEE don't make it bright green or something. Sure, dark green is perfectly fine. So is dark blue, dark purple, or any version of color, as long as it isn't too bright. Skirts and stuff can be brightly colored, and can have designs, but I really wouldn't go for a skirt, mainly because I'm not that girly.

Honestly, Vriska has bright red sneakers- so you can really make the shoes any color. It doesn't really affect how people look at your troll. However: make sure things match. You don't want a black shirt with your bright green symbol, some dark brown pants, and bright purple sneakers. Sure- you could do that. But I wouldn't. Because I would use a little thing... called a color scheme. First of all, your color scheme should be based off of your blood color (I'll explain later.) But you could have your orange symbol, and orange sneakers. That's all I would add, because orange pants (well, dark orange) would look really bad.

If you answered no to the first two questions, don't add them. Only highbloods tend to have jewelry. *DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, ADD JEWELRY IF YOUR TROLL IS A LOWBLOOD. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT.* Also, don't go on jewelry overload and start putting it everywhere- fingers, head, neck, wrist, etc. Just add a bit. Like, okay, we get it. You are rich and fancy and famous and popular and better than us and blah blah blah.
-----BODY, FACE, AND HEAD-----
A BASIC troll tends to have two horns, two eyes, a mouth, and black hair. Don't forget grey skin.
-Sub-category: Horns.
I'm personally not too sure why Trolls have horns, but here is what I know: They are usually oddly shaped, on the FanTroll's head, and has certain colors. At the tip of the horn, it is yellow. Then below it, it's light orange. At the very base of the horn, it's a dark orange-ish color. Horns don't have to be the same shape on both sides of the head. They could also be broken- like Equius. There could also be more than two- for example, Sollux has two on each side, (which equals 4,) because he is obsessed with the number 2. You see, it CAN relate to your "theme," or "symbol," but it doesn't have to. Hint: DO NOT PUT YA HORNS ON THE FOREHEAD. DUH.
-Sub-category: Eyes.
Trolls usually have yellow eyes with a black pupil. There can be eyelashes, and they can look as feminine or masculine as needed. DO NOT MAKE THEM ANY COLOR, OTHER THAN YELLOW AND BLACK. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT, LOOK HERE: 24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2i… . If a Troll dies, the eyes usually become white. (You can use "mascara" and "eyeliner" to make your eyelashes a different color, but not the eye.)
Note: If you were making an adult troll, pls pls pls pls I beg you, fill the eye in with their blood color. Because that is what happens with Trolls. The pupil part.
-Sub-category: Mouth.
Troll's lips are usually black- but if you're going to show teeth, they are mostly pointier than human's teeth. Although, they don't HAVE to be. (You can also wear lipstick.)
-Sub-category: Hair.
Your FanTroll's hair should be black. Troll hair is usually messy... but it doesn't always have to be. Streaks in your hair? I would only suggest this, if: Your Troll is a Highblood, and the color of the streak is the same color of the troll's blood. For example, Eridan has violet blood, and he has a SMALL streak of violet in his hair. Don't over do it, with like, a million streaks or something. Make it fast and simple.
-Sub-category: Eyebrows.
They should be black- like the hair. I've never heard of or seen streaks of color in the eyebrows. Don't do it. Trust me, if you end up doing it, you might regret it. Just think about it. Note: Only Tavros has eyebrows showing in the first original sprite thingy.
-Sub-category: Body.
The Troll's body should NOT have ears, unless you are a sea dweller. Which, if you're a lowblood, you really shouldn't have. I mean, sure, it's YOUR FanTroll, but in order for it to be logical, don't do that. I beg you. Also, grey skin. Don't forget the grey skin! DON'T FORGET THE GREY SKIN!!!!!!!! It would be such a shame if you create this beautiful FanTroll. Everything is logical, you have created your Lusus, your strife specibus, your horns are perfect, and you have an amazing theme. Plus a backstory. But... there's one thing you forgot. GREY SKIN! YOU ACCIDENTALLY USED A FAN-HUMAN TEMPLATE TO CREATE YOUR FAN-TROLL! Yeah. Do NOT forget the grey skin, pls. And, if you are gonna say "well omG AUTHOR BUT GAMZEE HAS... HAS A WHITE FACE!!1111111" please. That's facepaint. PLUS: Don't forget to make sure the body is proportional.

Please don't copy from the main canon trolls. I mean, if you get to this point, and you just get COMPLETE writer's block, (or whatever,) and you have no clue what to do, sure. Copy, who cares. After all, it's YOUR FanTroll, not mine. But, IN ORDER FOR THIS TO BE LOGICAL, YOU REALLY SHOULDN'T COPY FROM CANON TROLLS. Also, if you are purple+ on the Hemospectrum, it would only make sense for your Lusus to be aquatic, or just semi-aquatic. If you are a landdweller, but a highblood, like Gamzee, have a semi-aquatic. But if you live underwater- use your logic here! Also: If you wish to have a Mother Grub as your Lusus, just remember this: having a Mother Grub adopt you is a very rare case. I strongly advise you NOT use Virgin Mother Grub, unless you are a Jadeblood. And can't think of anything else.
-----BLOOD COLOR-----
Okay. I have a lot to explain here- A LOT. This is why I didn't get to it earlier, I was really avoiding this. But now we are here.
-Sub-category: Non-existent.
There is no such thing as black blood, white blood, transparent blood, rainbow blood, glitter blood, etc. The bloods to choose from can ONLY be from the Hemospectrum. (Or mutant.) If you choose a non-existant, fine with me. Just have your little fantasy Troll that makes no sense, because it's Lusus is a giant rainbow squirrel, and your Troll has rainbow clothes and blood. That's just stubborn.
-Sub-category: Mutant-blood.
If it's your ABSOLUTE DYING WISH to have a mutant FanTroll, then listen up here, little boy. Your fantroll BETTER NOT be proud of having mutant blood, considering the fact that these Trolls may be culled. They should hide it, or say that they have a different color blood- for example, teal or cerulean blood. Karkat is a mutant- so he wears his zodiac symbol as grey on his shirt. Plus, he types in grey on Trollian.
-Sub-category: Extinct/rare bloods.
Rare bloods include: Auburn, Mahogany, Jade, Orchid, Plum, Magenta, and Fuschia. You can use any of these.
Extinct bloods include: True Lime Variant, and Maroon. If you use these bloods for your FanTroll, you BETTER have a good reason for it. And you better come up with a real nice backstory of how it happened. There's actually a theory that Karkat was supposed to be a Limeblood or whatever...
-Extra: Here's some random stuff that I scraped out and clustered here: First of all, your troll doesn't have to be loyal to the hemospectrum. Eridan was extremely loyal, and Feferi wasn't too much. Second, they say that lower bloods are more likely to have powers, and higher bloods are just stronger. Yes, Vriska is a bit high on the hemospectrum, but she got her powers from Mindfang. I'll add more here later.
-----NAMES-----
Your Troll's name should be 12 characters in all. 6 for first name, 6 for last name. If you can't think of one, go on Google Translate and start thinking of words that go with your theme. For example, absence, snake, depression, ancient, blue, etc. and maybe you could add or re-arrange letters. Or take letters off. For the last name, you could do a six letter human name backwards. For example, Tavros' last name, (Nitram,) is Martin backwards. You could also arrange random letters. If you still can't find one, just go through your daily life and keep an eye out for six-lettered words!
-----TROLLIAN/PESTER HANDLE-----
This should have to do with your character's interests. Ex. Dad Egbert's chat handle is pipeFan413. Obviously, because he likes pipes. Just add two words together, and bam. You might want to think about it, though. Because the kids' Chumhandles use more descriptive words--- like Dirk's Chumhandle is timaeusTestified. I will admit--- before I read Homestuck, I would've had literally no clue what either of those words meant. Add detail into your little Chumhandle. Don't just make it "sadPerson," because that's just no. No, please, no.
-----INTERESTS-----
I'm a little tired. So I'm just gonna say, make it go with the theme. Also, add some surprises in there. If your character is extremely obsessed with technology, and modern culture, add a little bit of other things in there, like a closet hobby. You don't have to tell EVERYTHING off from the start though. Here is my advice: write down at least 4 things about your character that you don't reveal in the beginning. Like, maybe your character has a deep passion for cooking. But you're not just gonna come straight out and be like " OH I LOOOOOOOVE COOKING HERE IS SOME SPICES ALL OVER MY WALLS AND HERE'S SOME RANDOM SPATULA IN MY CLOSET." Here's how to reveal: Go for a period of time not mentioning cooking at all. Then, another character/OC could mention a cooking contest, and your character would go insane talking about it. Also, unless one of the Trolls becomes best friends with one of the humans, and they hear all about human culture, they aren't going to have human-like interests. E.g. Taco Bell, the book "Holes" by Louis Sachar, Panic! At the Disco, etc. But if your heart is set on having your character eat at Subway one day and finding a stray animal outside, maybe you could change the title a bit. "Waysub," like a Troll-version of Subway. Get it? Ok. NOTE: Add some dislikes in there too. Maybe someone mentions mystery movies or something, and you give a great big speech about why you hate them. Perfect.
-----ANCESTORS-----
Your ancestor and your FanTroll really don't have to be anything alike. Most of the canon trolls barely even know their ancestor, except a few. Like Vriska, with finding her old journals and stuff. If you CAN make your ancestor have to do with the theme, go for it. But don't just throw it in their face. NOTE: The lowblood ancestors usually have a "title," like The Signless. Or The Handmaid. Highbloods usually go by their name. There doesn't really need to be a character limit, considering one of the ancestors breaks the rule.
ANYWAY, if you need help with a quirk, or a name, or ANYTHING like that, please contact me. Also if I got any information wrong- tell me. I hope this helped, because I really spent like, my whole day typing this.
EXTRA STUFF: Your Troll should be associated with the Hemospectrum and know their place. They don't necessarily have to be LOYAL to it, they just gotta know.
It would not be logical for your Troll to be associated with the canon Trolls, unless you did tons of research on how to find a legit explanation for your existence in that time, and can explain every little detail.
(POST-SCRIPT: I've added so many more things in this, oh my god I'm so terrible why. The first time I wrote this, I screwed up big time. Then I kept adding to it and I made a mess. So today, the first of February, I have edited it and fixed it. Hopefully.)

You might want to think about it, though. Because the kids' Chumhandles use more descriptive words--- like Dirk's Chumhandle is timaeusTestified. I will admit--- before I read Homestuck, I would've had literally no clue what either of those words meant. Add detail into your little Chumhandle. Don't just make it "sadPerson," because that's just no. No, please, no.

I'm a little tired. So I'm just gonna say, make it go with the theme. Also, add some surprises in there. If your character is extremely obsessed with technology, and modern culture, add a little bit of other things in there, like a closet hobby. You don't have to tell EVERYTHING off from the start though. Here is my advice: write down at least 4 things about your character that you don't reveal in the beginning. Like, maybe your character has a deep passion for cooking. But you're not just gonna come straight out and be like " OH I LOOOOOOOVE COOKING HERE IS SOME SPICES ALL OVER MY WALLS AND HERE'S SOME RANDOM SPATULA IN MY CLOSET." Here's how to reveal: Go for a period of time not mentioning cooking at all. Then, another character/OC could mention a cooking contest, and your character would go insane talking about it. Also, unless one of the Trolls becomes best friends with one of the humans, and they hear all about human culture, they aren't going to have human-like interests. E.g. Taco Bell, the book "Holes" by Louis Sachar, Panic! At the Disco, etc. But if your heart is set on having your character eat at Subway one day and finding a stray animal outside, maybe you could change the title a bit. "Waysub," like a Troll-version of Subway. Get it? Ok. NOTE: Add some dislikes in there too. Maybe someone mentions mystery movies or something, and you give a great big speech about why you hate them. Perfect.
-----ANCESTORS-----
Your ancestor and your FanTroll really don't have to be anything alike. Most of the canon trolls barely even know their ancestor, except a few. Like Vriska, with finding her old journals and stuff. If you CAN make your ancestor have to do with the theme, go for it. But don't just throw it in their face. NOTE: The lowblood ancestors usually have a "title," like The Signless. Or The Handmaid. Highbloods usually go by their name. There doesn't really need to be a character limit, considering one of the ancestors breaks the rule.

EXTRA STUFF: Your Troll should be associated with the Hemospectrum and know their place. They don't necessarily have to be LOYAL to it, they just gotta know.
It would not be logical for your Troll to be associated with the canon Trolls, unless you did tons of research on how to find a legit explanation for your existence in that time, and can explain every little detail.
(POST-SCRIPT: I've added so many more things in this, oh my god I'm so terrible why. The first time I wrote this, I screwed up big time. Then I kept adding to it and I made a mess. So today, the first of February, I have edited it and fixed it. Hopefully.)
